Upcoming Maintenance Windows

You may remember a couple of months ago we e-mailed about a lot of network improvements that were going to be happening on the VooServers network. We have since then been preparing to implement our own Cisco routers which will not only increase our overall network capacity but will also help us to handle attacks on our network more efficiently and offer more flexibility with our services.

During the planning process with the network engineers to implement the new Cisco routers we have however identified a vulnerability within the existing network which could leave it as a target for an attack that would disrupt connectivity for a lengthy period. Due to the nature of this vulnerability we cannot disclose exactly where it lies however it is important that we get it patched as soon as possible and as such we have scheduled a maintenance window for 04/05/2012 starting at 00:05AM and lasting until 00:20AM. During this window we expect connectivity to be disrupted for up to 5 minutes however we are aiming to do it in far less. This window has been decided upon by analysing recent network throughput to determine the least busiest period to try and leave as little impact as possible on services.

As part of this maintenance window we are also going to implement the final preparations for our new routers going online which will reduce any further disruption during the switchover. The switch over to the new routers will be happening on 09/05/2012 at 23:00PM and is expected to be complete by 23:05PM. The disruption during this period however will be no longer than 1 minute while the network routes are re-negotiated to our new routers.

We apologise for any inconvenience these maintenance windows may cause however we can assure you that is essential this work is completed to ensure long term network stability and increased protection of all of the services on our network. If you have any questions or concerns about this maintenance please contact us on support@vooservers.com or by logging in to the client portal at https://secure.vooclients.com and we will be happy to help.

Best Regards,
VooServers Support.
