5-10% Packet Loss - 21/02/2012 - 16:06 to 16:16 GMT

You may have noticed this afternoon (21/02/2012) 5-10% packet loss between 16:06 and 16:16 GMT. This was caused by an inbound denial of service attack aimed at the data centre. Our monitoring systems trigger alerts at 2% packet loss so immediately detected the problem at which point the data centre network engineers were contacted as part of our procedures who were already working on filtering the attack. Most users would have gone through this period without noticing the attack as the majority of the traffic was automatically filtered however users with latency sensitive applications may have noticed slight disruptions.

We would like to apologise to any users who may have noticed disruptions and we can assure you that attacks of this size which are enough to cause slight disruptions are rare.

If you have any concerns or queries please contact us by creating a support ticket using the client portal located at https://secure.vooclients.com or by e-mailing support@vooservers.com and we will be happy to help.
