Maidstone Outage - 19/09/2011 - 18:18 to 18:41

This evening between 18:18 and 18:41 you may have noticed a loss of connectivity on our Maidstone network. The data centre network engineers are still investigating the root cause however at this time we believe the issue was caused by introducing a new switch in to the network to cater for the data centre consolidation that is being performed this week. The new switch meant we had 2 feeds from the data centre network in to our own network which had been running fine for around 3 horus and then caused the feeds to drop. Due to this the data centre have temporarily disabled one of our feeds while they investigate the cause which has restored network connectivity. This will not affect any services any further however it does mean we are running on a reduced redundancy while they find the cause.

Best Regards,
VooServers Support.

Update - 20/09/2011 09:54
The data centre network engineers have now completed their investigations and confirmed that this outage was caused by a broadcast storm on our network. Spanning tree is enabled on our network which should have prevented this from happening however after working with Cisco TAC we have identified an error in the switch firmware that caused the storm-control rules not to trigger which we have now corrected

We appologise for any inconvenience caused and we will be taking further measures to ehance the redundancy of the network once the data centre consolidation is complete.
