You may have noticed intermittent packet loss between 21:20 and 21:55 this evening on any services hosted in our Maidstone data centre. This was due to an on-going denial of service attack aimed at one of our VPS nodes. We were alerted at 21:22 by our automated monitoring systems of a large spike in the packets per second on our switch and raised this straight away with the network engineers at the data centre. The engineers then analysed traffic graphs and data to discover the source and destination and block the attack. Currently we are treating this issue as resolved however we are still closely monitoring traffic for any signs that an attack is being started from a different destination.
